This list is great. Don’t hold your breath for them to actually take any action against a judge, but if you have a valid complaint, FILE IT. Email and keep a copy. Send it to the press also. If they get enough complaints they might actually DO something!
READ ALSO This excellent article by Dr. Richard Cordero, Esq. on Judicial Discipline Reform . He provides very useful reminders and suggestions as to how to get the job done! He identifies the same problems I have seen so many times, provides forms for you to use to keep track of vital information (evidence against that judge!), and tells you step by step how YOU can make a real difference in holding judges accountable in a world where to many think they can do whatever they please!

Topics Include

A. Anecdotic allegations v. pattern evidence of judges’ wrongdoing

B. Parties joining forces to audit judges so as to advance their common cause

C. How a party can go about locating others wronged by the same judge

D. Meetings of parties are sessions for division of labor and getting work done

E. From groping for sense in a fog of data to becoming Champions of Justice

I get lots of letters published, and ghost write for others. The keys to getting your Letter published are:
1. Keep it to 250 words or fewer.
2. Do not make it about “poor little old me”. Describe the problem as one which not only affects the individual, but is a senseless or ineffective measure, policy, or law which also harms communities and society. For example, with reentry, the obstacles make it unnecessarily difficult for the individual, but also harm society by making it hard to become productive, spending money and paying taxes in the community, and they cause increased recidivism = increased crime.
3. Speak from your heart.
4. Google any facts you are not sure about.
5. Do not name-call.
Do what works: Write that Letter! 🙂
Letter to Editor – sign name, town, state, and your phone number (they often call to verify that you sent it), and “Member of Citizens for Criminal JUSTICE” if you like – shows you are part of a large group.
Send the email to yourself, and put on the “bcc” bar the email addresses for Letters to the Editor for the top ten newspapers in your state and several national ones – The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, U S A Today (google the Letter to Editor email addresses). Any questions, CALL me at 302-423-4067! 🙂
Need a Letter on some criminal justice issue and not a great letter writer? NO EXCUSE! Email me a rough draft and call me and I’ll polish it up! .

Letter to the Editor – Who is Judging the Judges?     DATE

I recently was in Family Court (WHATEVER COURT), where, in a 40 minute hearing, Judge (NAME THAT JUDGE) repeatedly denied every objection and motion from one litigant, and granted virtually every objection and motion from the other! At one point the judge actually exclaimed “We can continue if you insist, but I decided two months ago that your client is going to jail”!  I could hardly believe my ears, but there it was: blatant judicial bias.

This is not an unusual occurence. All too often judges abuse their authority because they enjoy almost complete immunity from being sued. Many complaints to official “Judicial Misconduct” bodies fall on deaf ears. There is an entrenched reluctance to discipline errant judges; they refuse to acknowledge the depth of the problem. Too many judges, with their lofty manner and with people bowing to them day in and day out, forget that, like all government officials, they work for us. Judges like Judge (THE NAMED JUDGE) have no business on the bench!

Name, city and state, phone number, Member of CitIzens for Criminal JUSTICE

Check this out too, but contact the disciplinary body directly – report it to them yourself!

Sad to say that Federal judges can be impeached, and that is the only remedy! If I remember correctly, it has happened only once – google “Impeachment of Federal Judge”.  If you have a serious problem with an idiot Federal Judge, shame him/her with a Letter to Editor calling for impeachment, and email Congress – all of them!  There are many terrible Federal Judges – I have seen their “work” and will name several in my book! Thanks, Jean!

If the conduct of the judge is criminal, email the local prosecutor AND the United States Attorney for your area.
