FACT: The members of Delaware’s Council on Corrections have NO CLUE about what really goes on in our prisons!

Here is the Action Plan. It will work if you do it; if you don’t nothing will change. It is not a “quick fix” – there is none – but it IS the course of action which will bring change! If you are not in Delaware, start a group in YOUR state and do what is suggested here! CALL me if you may want to do that! 302-423-4067

Good News and Bad News

Council on Corrections* =  “Council” herein. Guards or Corrections Officers = C Os herein.

Bad News: OK, we went and we saw that it is a lot more of the same old bullshit. The Council can only advise the Governor, the Commissioner, and others; they cannot make any real changes. Some people were surprised that the Council could only advise and could not make any real changes. I knew this, because I have been working on this issue full time for years and I have attended their meetings in the past. This is a long term struggle, but there has never been a better time than right now to make a lot of progress in short time on this issue!

^^^^No, No, No … We Are Still on the GO!

After a meeting tonight some folks are disheartened, and their frustration did show,
But it was NOT all for nothing; I have a plan and we are still on the GO,
We shall use what they said to our advantage, and we shall give them more,
And we shall take actions to cause the real change, which the Council said they cannot do; they can only hear us roar,
Well, we shall give them a whopping encore,
And we are forming an action plan with great vigour!
Kra 5/9/17

Good News: We have given them some NEW information – facts – of which to advise the Governor, the Commissioner, and others, and we shall give them much more. Never before have they advised that abuse of inmates by was reported to be a major problem. Now, according to their own word, they must! Both Roger Levy, the head of the Council, and longtime Council member Richard Senato, also “running the show” stated that they would indeed advise the Governor and the Commissioner what we reported, and they gave out their email addresses, requesting comments in writing.

Those email addresses are: Roger Levy = rmlevy9@yahoo.com and Richard Senato =rdshrc@aol.com

NOW IS THE TIME TO GIVE THEM PLENTY OF INFORMATION IN WRITING! We have a core group of “warriors” whose relatives were criminally, maliciously, wrongly beaten and abused by C Os after the incident of early February at JTVCC. We must let them know that 1) we all know the truth, and 2) we are resolute and determined to get something done about it.

So, we have a 3 point plan, and I hope and pray that you DO this. YOU MUST DO THIS, if you want to see the changes we need! I am praying hard that you do.

  1. Bombard the Council with those letters from inmates, any and all written accounts of prison abuse – your stories – in writng by sending emails ASAP to Mr. Levy and to Mr. Senato. My email to them appears below. TAKE TIME TO SEND THEM A SIMILAR EMAIL!

2.Send copies of those emails, or a new email stating the facts of abuse, to two people: David Weiss, Acting U S Attorney for Delaware, and to Matt Denn, Attorney    General of Delaware. My emails are below.

Their email addresses are: David Weiss, = davidweiss@usdoj.gov  Matt Denn (send to both addresses!) = matthew.denn@state.de.us  and attorney.general@state.de.us

3. Continue to speak out, send emails, attend rallies … Persist! They must know that we are not “going away” and we are not going to “forget about it”!

Never before has this been more true or more powerful … it is not about me, and it is not about you, it is about ALL OF THE VICTIMS OF ABUSE, WHO HAVE NO REAL VOICE. WE MUST BE THEIR UNRELENTING VOICE**:

**Let me here relate the story of my friend, Greg R. I shall never forget what I saw happen to Greg, and to hundreds of others while I was incarcerate. Greg R was in a cell within 2 or 3 of mine on several occasions, on different tiers, for many months, during 1.510 days that I was kept unlawfully in prison and in isolation. Greg R was about 30, uneducated (I later learned that he left school in the 9th grade), who had been in and out of prison many times for dealing drugs (no violent crime … he was out on the streets doing what he knew he could do to make money = sell drugs!).

Here is what the C Os routinely did to Greg R: As they put the food tray in the slot in the cell door of that isolation cell, they would spit into his food and say ” How do you like that, you crazy nigger?” [I never use that word, but I use it here because I do not want you to miss the cruelty and malice involved here]. Regularly! Poor Greg would react  “go ballistic” and curse at them.*** [Of course he would!]

On other occasions the C Os – one Nicholas Mohr and Michael Bryan in particular, but there were others – would stand in front of his cell (two COs) and say: No 1 “Hey you want to play with Gregory for a while?” No 2 “Sure, let’s bring him out”. Then they would get Greg out of his cell, hands cuffed behind his back, and beat and kick him for a while, then shove him back into his cell, as the laughed.  I was boiling, but there was nothing I could do except make note of it, file a grievance ( s useless process in D O C), and resolve never to forget it. Of course I also tried to calm Greg and I advised him what to do. This is one of hundreds of such incidents I saw, and I have not related all the abuse they did to me. Thankfully, God gave me a strong spirit – I did NOT react (that is what they want inmates to do when they torment them) – and I ignored all they did … which I knew would frustrate and piss off the abusers.

This is my email to David Weiss, with a copy sent to Matt Denn today (Matt knows very well what I have to say – I have contacted him many times and he has told me that he listens to my remarks and reads my emails … he need a push to act, and the evidence to convict those who need to be convicted):

Hi, David, 5/9/17  [ the same Hi Matt email was sent this morning to Denn at  matthew.denn@state.de.us and attorney.general@state.de.us and yesterday I sent a copy of my email to Weiss to hundreds of REPORTERS on my Press List of email addresses] I will get you that list, ready to go, after I call my computer helper today or tomorrow, but you should have your own list – group – of press contacts to email frequently (at least once every month or two send them something!). With the list I send you you can CC emails  which you send to officials to reporters.

You read about the tragic death of D O C employee, Mr. Floyd.

NOW is your chance to do your part to prevent more such tragedies! The law applies inside prison walls and it must be enforced inside those walls. I implore you to prosecute in earnest ALL D O C personnel who commit crimes.

PLEASE READ THIS: http://www.citizensforcriminaljustice.net/prosecution-imprisonment-will-stop-prison-abuse-demand-avoid-deaths-prison-guards/

My friend, Steve Hampton, Esq. in Dover can forward to you hundreds of letters recounting outrageous criminal conduct by scores of D O C personnel. His contact info is:

Stephen Hampton

Dover, DE 19904

Thank you for your attention to this very serious problem.

Ken Abraham

This is my email to the Council: (with a copy to Steve Hampton and to my Press List too! 🙂 )

Greetings, Mr. Levy, Mr. Senato, and all other Council on Corrections members.   5-10-17

Thank you for your time and your consideration, and for inviting us to relate to you, in writing, more facts about what really goes on in our prisons, so that you may advise the Governor, the Commissioner, and others of same.

I trust that you will forward a copy of this email to ALL Council members, please. Thank you.

Here is a copy of the statement I read yesterday:

Letter to Editor or Op Ed Submission: PRISON SAFETY – Open Letter to All Who Deny Prison Abuse Occurs – 4/28/17  – http://www.citizensforcriminaljustice.net/letter-editor-op-ed-submission-prison-safety-open-letter-deny-prison-abuse-occurs-42817/

Here are more FACTS concerning a small part of the abuse done to me personally. Read the article; the facts are right there:

It’s not about What They Did to Me -Prison Abuse  – http://www.citizensforcriminaljustice.net/its-not-aboutwhat-they-did-to-me-prison-abuse/

My colleague, Steve Hampton, Esq. is about to file a massive lawsuit on behalf of several hundred inmates who have been severely abused (beaten – broken bones and all –  and tormented) since the February incident. He has hundreds of letters from inmates relating more facts for you to advise the Governor and the Commissioner and others about. I have a call in to him to ask him to email to you those letters. And I know you will be getting more facts from others.

I respectfully suggest that you read these two articles [I have sent them to you before, but NOW, ladies and gentlemen, you have your hands full. We are not going away, and if you are sincerely interested in the problems in D O C, as you said you are, these will help you better understand the problem. Thank you]

Here they are:

Why only PROSECUTION and IMPRISONMENT Will Stop Prison Abuse! Demand It!! How to Avoid the Deaths of More Prison Guards!  – http://www.citizensforcriminaljustice.net/prosecution-imprisonment-will-stop-prison-abuse-demand-avoid-deaths-prison-guards/

Prison Abuse – Why Massive Indifference is a Massive Mistake  – http://www.citizensforcriminaljustice.net/prison-abuse-massive-indifference-massive-mistake/

I also issue a call for more education programs for inmates. All studies show that education is the number one way to reduce recidivism. Vocational and formal education programs. When we reduce recidivism we lessen the number of future crime victims, avoiding all that anguish, pain, and related costs. Of course, the reason why Geoffrey Klopp and other prison officials resist and criticize such programs is that it is eliminating their jobs. They have a financial interest in keeping that prison revolving door spinning! We are not unmindful that there are powerful forces opposing changes which are needed – police unions, C O unions, etc. For every 1 person arrested, 29 people benefit financially. Sadly, many of them are doing nothing to help society or individuals; they have merely become a part of the machinery of mass incarceration! I get hundreds of articles a month, and all support what I say here.

Thank you very much for your unpaid service on the Council on Corrections. See you at your next meeting.

If any of you have any questions about any of this, please do not hesitate to call me at 302-423-4067.

That’s it … if you all follow my suggestions, We are Still on the GO! kra

I get lots of letters published, and ghost write for others. The keys to getting your Letter published are:
1. Keep it to 250 words or fewer.
2. Do not make it about “poor little old me”. Describe the problem as one which not only affects the individual, but is a senseless or ineffective measure, policy, or law which also harms communities and society. For example, with reentry, the obstacles make it unnecessarily difficult for the individual, but also harm society by making it hard to become productive, spending money and paying taxes in the community, and they cause increased recidivism = increased crime.
3. Speak from your heart.
4. Google any facts you are not sure about.
5. Do not name-call.
Do what works: Write that Letter! 🙂
Letter to Editor – sign name, town, state, and your phone number (they often call to verify that you sent it), and “Member of Citizens for Criminal JUSTICE” if you like – shows you are part of a large group.
Send the email to yourself, and put on the “bcc” bar the email addresses for Letters to the Editor for the top ten newspapers in your state and several national ones – The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, U S A Today (google the Letter to Editor email addresses). Any questions, CALL me at 302-423-4067! 🙂
Need a Letter on some criminal justice issue and not a great letter writer? NO EXCUSE! Email me a rough draft and call me and I’ll polish it up! kenabraham3138@gmail.com .
